As the Engineering Programmer, you will assist the Engineering team in achieving manufacturing goals and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. This internship offers a variety of opportunities for learning related to improving engineering process through programming and systems.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

 

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Enhance software for the end of the line testing unit to increase automation for the production operators
  • Create performant and usable software to improve engineering processes
  • Document existing programs and databases
  • Analyze, improve and modify codes within assigned databases that interface with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software of JDE

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience and Education

  • Student working towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or another related technical field
  • Candidates must have completed their second year of studies
  • Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible and accountable
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Company will not provide sponsorship for position. Must be eligible to work in US

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to evaluate business scenario and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
  • Experience programming in C, C++, or Java
  • Experience in Visual Studio and Visual Basic
  • Experience with SQL Server and Linux
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

 

Travel & Working Environment

  • Manufacturing Environment frequently require use of foot and eye protection when in production areas
