This is a position with The Marley Company, a parent company which provides administrative support to the SPX Enterprises HVAC Heating businesses (such as WM Technologies, LLC, Marley Engineered Products, LLC, Patterson-Kelley, LLC)  and includes all Weil-McLain® branded products.

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

 

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Sr. Engineer will provide manufacturing engineering leadership, project management and sustaining engineering expertise to the Eden manufacturing facility.

 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

 

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

 

  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Support plant objectives and goals in terms of safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost reduction through continuous improvement of the plant manufacturing processes.
  • Support and expand Lean culture and implementation throughout the plant.
  • Identify and implement safety improvements.

 

  1. Operational Support and Analysis: 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams at all levels to determine feasibility of proposed projects and provide data or information for accurate decisions.
  • Analyses and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment & workspace for efficiency.
  • Develop and track key metrics for manufacturing engineering.
  • Conduct Manufacturability studies.

 

     3.  New Product Development/Capital Investments: 

  • Successful crafting of a capital appropriation request (E201) with supporting EVA calculations as well as project management leadership.  Processes engineering change requests (ECR’s).
  • Support the NPI program with regards ensuring manufacturing process to manufacturing new products to required specs and required efficiencies.
  • Determine equipment/process specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Utilize Design for Manufacturability with all decisions on new products.

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

 

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

 

Required Experience

  • 7 years of current experience in related manufacturing.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes including assembly, fabrication, powder coat paint, and electrical testing.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of Solid Works. 
  • Strong Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles.
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problems solving and data analysis skills (8D, 5Y, statistics, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills (comparative analysis via spreadsheet)
  • Strong Quality Systems knowledge including:
    • PPAP, APQP, PFMEA and control plan
    • Error-proofing (Poka-yoke)
    • ISO or TS 16949 depth of understanding
  • Strong engineering and process conformance knowledge and experience including SWI (standard work), Testing and audit processes, and Engineering change management and support.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges and test rigs.
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of auditing processes.
  • Is able to provide strong leadership through teamwork as a motivational leader. Demonstrates teamwork abilities, as well as persistence when dealing with problems.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required.
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time required.

 

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.

Travel & Working Environment

  • 10% or less travel requirement.
  • Onsite
