The below is a position with Weil-Mclain, a division of the Marley-Wylain Company. Weil-McLain is an industry leading manufacturer of high efficiency, condensing boilers. With a 140 year history coupled with innovation through digital solutions and climate conscious initiatives, we provide reliable comfort heating solutions for residential and commercial use.
How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Sr. Manager, Product Compliance, you will work across company departments and internal and external legal staff in the oversight of product claims. You will lead and provide product technical support to Corporate, Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and Company Leaders through involvement in associations and agencies that affect the Company’s long-term interests.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Monitor and respond to changes in regulatory requirements effecting products:
- Track, analyze, and report to management on industry trends and government rulemaking actions.
- Responsible for agency correspondence including applications, audits, and renewals for certification and listing programs.
- Manage compliance staff in support of multi-business unit brands for all product compliance matters.
- Ensures accuracy of data in agency listings, certifications, standards, correspondence, contacts, and events.
- Compliance-related cross functional support:
- Support company functions such as R&D, NPI, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing on ensuring product compliance and listing to relevant standards.
- Represent the Company as the official member or alternate for industry trade associations, standards, codes, and agency committees including but not limited to: AHRI, ASHRAE, ASME, ASME CSD-1, CSA, DOE, EPA, NFGC, and UL
- Work with Product Engineering Managers to develop Requirements Management approach to define requirements, targets for acceptance and compliance to appropriate regulations and industry requirements.
- Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department or organization.
- Product Liability
- Act as the company technical representative and/or company witness as required, including answering questions under oath on behalf of the company.
- Provide technical support to the corporate legal staff or outside legal counsel on possible product problems and claims
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 10 years of boiler or HVAC design, manufacturing, and application experience.
- Experience in industry code or standards committee related to HVAC (Boiler preferred).
- Strong problem identification, reasoning and resolution skills utilizing root cause analysis or similar tools; collect data, establish facts, distinguish trends, and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience in collaborating with multiple functions/sites to drive common solutions.
- Comfort with public speaking and demonstrated ability to influence senior management, teams, and individuals.
- Knowledge of heating equipment testing and test procedures
- Strong computer skills including CAD, PLM, Requirements Management and statistical analysis software.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills to maintain records and priorities on multiple projects.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Management of a team or related department
Education & Certifications
- BSME or BSEE
- Registered Professional Engineer Preferred
- Master’s degree or equivalent business experience
Travel & Working Environment
- Approximately 30% overnight travel
- Period work in lab or warehouse environment
