This is a position with The Marley Company, a parent company that provides administrative support to the SPX. How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Test Technician- Controls, you will conduct benchtop and lab testing along with preparing associated documentation on HVAC control systems and components.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Work with New Product Introduction Engineers, R&D Engineers, Control Engineers, and Lab personnel on developing test plans, procedures, and schedules.
- Coordinate daily lab testing activities under minimal guidance.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment necessary to conduct product and component testing.
- Independently set-up, configure and use laboratory test equipment.
- Assist in the development of proposals for equipment purchase and calibration, maintenance, and operation instructions.
- Assist with internal and external laboratory audits.
- Generate test reports, test procedures, and test schedules for R&D, NPI, and Sustaining Engineering Projects.
- Assist in developing and maintaining Engineering Lab Work Instructions
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- Demonstrates strong organization skills and computer knowledge.
- Demonstrates the skills to fabricate electronics assemblies and prototypes.
- Demonstrates the skills and the working knowledge for test setups and conducting certification test. (CSA/UL agency standards a plus).
- Demonstrates knowledge of electrical and computer engineering techniques
- Demonstrates knowledge of common lab instruments for electronics and electrical power testing
- Demonstrates knowledge of control logic and wiring diagrams
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Preferred knowledge of programming (Labview, C++, etc)
Education & Certifications
- High School graduate
- Associate degree in electrical or computer Engineering or related discipline preferred.
Travel & Working Environment
- Office environment with routine work in a laboratory environment
- Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
- Laboratory environment requires use of foot, eye, and ear protection.
