This opportunity is for our Electric Heat business. Electric Heat is a trusted leader in electric heating and ventilation solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. Backed by the strength of ASPEQ Heating Group and Marley Engineered Products, we offer a wide range of standard and customized products through leading brands like QMark, Indeeco, Berko, and Brasch.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a critical role in monitoring, managing and paying company payables in a timely manner. The Accounts Payables Specialist is responsible for accurately receiving, organizing and coordinating payments for accounts payable invoices. This includes reviewing, matching and coding invoices among many other duties listed below.  The successful Accounts Payable Specialist will have strong communication skills (written and verbal), excellent attention to detail, an ability to consistently meet deadlines and a focus on customer service.

                                                                                                

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Organization and Invoicing
  • Process and organize production and non-production vendor invoices
  • Match vendor invoices to purchase orders and goods received (3-way match)
  • Review and approve all vouchers for payment. Also prepare invoice deduction notices, as necessary
  • Deal with/resolve vendor queries
  • Prepare weekly payment proposals and enter EFT/wire payments into TM5 electronic payment portal
  • Create new payment templates in TM5 as necessary
  • Update vendor information in the ERP system or TM5 by requesting changes
  • Send out EFT/wire remittances
  • Enter and post journal entries in the ERP system.
  • Review and update MVP to process non-production vendor invoices
  • Assist with audits and other inquiries by providing invoices or other information as requested
  • File invoices and other documents on a routine basis
  • Manage the mailroom. Receive and send mail as necessary

 

  1. Reconciliations
  • Review purchase order balances and unapproved invoices continually
  • Review unvouched reports and resolve issues either directly or by working with other groups (buyers, receiving etc.) to stay in compliance with SPX policies
  • Reconcile outstanding invoice statements from vendors

 

  1. Reporting and Continuous Improvement: 
  • Problem-solve and implement more efficient methods
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the accounts payable function
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and accounting principles
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • Previous experience working with A/P functions
  • ERP system experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Worked in and understand accounting for a manufacturing company
  • Experience working in A/R and A/P functions
  • Excellent communicator – written and verbal
  • Flexible approach with hands-on attitude to tasks
  • High attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of team
  • Strong experience in Microsoft applications, especially Outlook and Excel.

 

Education & Certifications

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Office environment
  • The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours
  • Limited/ No travel
