How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Finance Intern, you will gain valuable exposure to the financial operations of a global manufacturing company while working on projects that have real impact. You will assist the finance and accounting team with analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives, while leading at least one critical project focused on solving a problem, improving a process, or enhancing financial decision-making.
This role provides an opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge in a professional setting, strengthen your analytical and business skills, and learn how finance partners with operations, manufacturing, and commercial teams to support a growing business.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While specific projects will vary, your responsibilities may include:
1. Financial & Accounting Support
- Assist with analysis of financial data, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.
- Support monthly reporting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis against budgets/forecasts.
- Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes alongside finance leaders.
2. Project Ownership
- Lead at least one high-impact project designed to improve a financial or accounting process, enhance reporting, or solve a team challenge.
- Develop recommendations and present findings to finance leadership.
3. Process Improvement & Analysis
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies or gaps in finance processes.
- Assist in documenting, streamlining, and standardizing procedures.
- Participate in projects aimed at automation, reporting enhancements, or data analysis.
4. Communication & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with finance, accounting, and operational teams to understand business drivers and support decision-making.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations that summarize financial performance and trends.
- Share insights with managers and cross-functional partners.

Required Experience
- Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and concepts.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; collaboration in a team setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with business systems (e.g., ERP/CRM/CPQ) or analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) is a plus.
Education & Certifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
