The below is a position with Marley Engineered Products. Marley Engineered Products is a marketplace leader in innovative comfort heating and ventilation solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. With a portfolio that includes baseboard, wall, unit and infrared heaters as well as ceiling fans and air circulators, we create simplified heating solutions for our complex world.
How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Financial Analyst you will contribute to the financial success and growth of the company by ensuring accurate financial reporting, costing, and inventory to support decision making, planning, and control processes. You are responsible for providing accounting and analytical support consisting of costing, inventory valuation and reconciliation, labor and overhead maintenance and month end close responsibilities.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

- Cost Accounting Support & Control
- Analyzes data to determine value of new and existing inventory and maintains cost records.
- Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on costs.
- Provides leadership with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting costs and profitability of products.
- Support the annual standard cost development and roll of same.
- Monitor manufacturing cost aspects including material, labor and overhead, price-volume-mix analyses, as well as efficiency, productivity, and spend variances.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to ensure Standard Costing is accurate.
- Compiles cost information used in annual operating plan preparation and report-out processes as it relates to manufacturing standard and variance cost accounting.
- Support external audit and tax preparation functions as relates to cost accounting.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Fully understand all reports that fall within your responsibilities. Seek additional information if needed and make suggestions/recommendations to support Marley’s financial health.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to maintain the integrity of the General Ledger to ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded.
- Actively participates in Operations teams and projects providing guidance, reporting, and data verification.
- Maintains vendor master file for financial processing.
- Prepare, analyse, and maintain standard adjusting journal entries with related support as relates to operational cost accounting and monthly inventory book to perpetual.
- Prepare and analyse monthly operational reports explaining material, labor, and overhead efficiency and productivity costs in comparison to outlooks to identify improvements.
- Prepare, analyse, and suggest actions from monthly standard and gross margin analyses as well as cost of goods sold/manufactured statements.
- Review current reports and suggest additional operational reports/metrics to properly assess the financial implications of manufacturing activities.
- Inventory Support and Analysis
- Act as the finance lead for annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts; works with the operational resources responsible for these processes to assure timely and accurate financial reporting implications.
- Support and travel to outside warehouses to perform counts as needed.
- Work with the Operations and Finance team to understand current reporting metrics, develop improved reports and fully understand inventory transactions as relates to the general ledger.
- Direct and manage 2-3 cycle counters, and make sure the cycle count program adheres to the SPX Policy.

Required Experience
- Must have very strong PC skills with Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced).
- Proficiency in data mining and query generation.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding, with the ability to deliver on time.
- Strong mathematical skills, and analytical problem solver.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from auditors, managers, and coworkers.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with Financial controls (SOX) within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles/ practices and knowledge with standard cost system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft access
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing
- Experience working with an ERP system (MAPICS, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Syteline, etc.) is preferred.
- Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
Education & Certifications
- BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus but not required.
Travel & Working Environment
- Onsite position, office environment with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
- Travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, warehouse, and training.
- Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye, and ear protection when in production areas.
