Set Up Specialist - Fabrication

JOB SUMMARY

Set up and operate Mechanical and Hydraulic punch/brake presses with tooling including the machine accessories such as, decoilers, material feeding equipment, and others.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Responsible for insuring the safe work habits of yourself and any associate that you assign to a job you or another set-up person has setup.
2.    Responsible for filling out all required paperwork for press/machine inspections prior to operation, as well as training others on filling out required paperwork as needed.
3.    Responsible for setting the tooling up in the machine in the proper method as required, utilizing all approved set up clamps, bolts, stop blocks, etc.. that are needed to set the job up properly.   Set-ups are to be completed in the time allotted per part/sku routings.  
4.    Responsible for setting up the machine/tooling to meet all requirements for part fit, form, function and dimensional integrity.   
5.    Responsible for detailing the quality inspection required by any associate you assign to a job that you or another set-up person has setup.
6.    Required to maintain 5S responsibilities of assigned work areas
7.    Utilize Shop Floor Plus, MAPICS, or any other system to determine order of jobs that need to be set up, and to pace the timing of the set ups required.
8.    Retrieve, load, and unload specified materials and parts to perform the set up and to run any job on machinery that you have set up.   
9.    Check quality of all products produced on your set-up to insure conformance to specifications before applying for First Piece Inspection help from QA.
10.    Advise supervisor and QC of any quality issues 
11.    Use safety devices as prescribed by the manufacturer or MEP.
12.    Perform specified preventive maintenance of equipment and tooling and assist in repairs as required.
Education and Experience
•    High school diploma or equivalent preferred with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
•    Requires ability to use English, grammar and math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions.
•    Requires some familiarity with computers and general input/retrieval of data using computers and computer terminals.
•    Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings specifications, schedules, and the use of adjustable measuring instruments.
•    Ability to understand and perform administrative duties of job.
•    Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and demanding.
•    Ability to become certified to operate a forklift or stand up MHE equipment.  
•    Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized standard methods and procedures
•    Moderate physical effort consisting of frequently lifting or moving average weight material
•    Historically, has demonstrated understanding the difference between giving a best effort versus doing what’s necessary.
