As part of Detection and Measurement, CUES is the world’s leading developer of water, wastewater, and storm water inspection equipment.   With CCTV cameras, pre-built vehicles, and software for pipeline inspection and rehabilitation, we improve the safety and reliability of our water infrastructure systems.

 

JOB SUMMARY
The Materials Controller is responsible for ensuring the efficient planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials enabling the business unit to function at optimum efficiency. This role ensures that inventory levels are maintained at optimal levels utilising controls such as MRP and MOQ.
 

The position will also be responsible for coordinating shipments and receiving materials required for the business to operate such as parts, assembled equipment, consumables, packing and general administrative duties related to the role. The role will also play an active role in Equipment testing prior to shipping.
 

The incumbent must be comfortable utilising various written and verbal communication methods, and be confident using Microsoft Windows based programs and ERP. 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Prepare, pack and process spare parts and equipment orders ready for shipping needs the same day via the shipping system (e.g. UPS, FedEx).
•    Maintain organization of stock, bin labeling and overall controls of material movement and reporting.
•    Ensure inventory counts and movement of parts are accurate. Implement corrective action to adjust inventory when inaccuracies are found. Perform cycle counts and stockroom inventory audits using established processes.
•    Maintain and order supplies to support business operations such as packaging materials and consumable parts using established Purchase Order processes. 
•    Ensure accuracy of order receipts and prompt receiving and stocking/restocking of supplies, materials and inventory parts in stockroom using established processes.
•    Maintain and order as necessary shopfloor consumables, packaging materials.
•    Inspect incoming materials for quality and ensure they meet required specifications.
•    Test equipment ready to be shipped.
•    Liaise with suppliers to source materials and negotiate delivery schedules.
•    Collaborate with key stakeholders, such as production, purchasing, and service to forecast material requirements.
•    Resolve discrepancies in deliveries or stock levels promptly.
•    Manage non-conforming materials and liaise with suppliers for replacements or credits.
•    Ensure inventory re-order parameters are maintained to reflect the demands of the business
•    Any other general duties as required to support all facets of the business such as booking and receiving consignments including imports and exports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
•    Experience with shipping including importing and exporting
•    Strong verbal and written communications skills
•    Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
•    Proven experience in materials management, supply chain, or inventory control.
•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•    Strong communication and negotiation skills.
•    Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to material storage and handling.

 

Preferred Education / Experience
•    Any relevant certifications relating to Inventory management/control or business systems 
•    Experience or using a forklift and manual lifting equipment
•    Experience in light assembly and test.
