How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Under the direction of the Plant Superintendent, the QC and Maintenance Technician assembles, disassembles, performs quality testing, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic and mechanical equipment. The QC and Maintenance Technician will be expected to maintain quality and safety standard, keep accurate records, and maintain equipment and supplies. 

                                                                                                                                               

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

 

1. Technical:

  • Read and operate various measuring equipment related to electronics (Oscilloscope, digital multi-meters, signal analyzers, multi-meters, mega ohm meter etc.)
  • Use of calipers and other measuring devices to verify part dimensions.
  • Read and understand complex assembly drawings, schematics, and test procedures
  • Be proficient in DC-AC, solid state theory, audio signals, video signals and applications
  • Drill/Tap and remove screws
  • Solder to the component level

 

2. Quality Assurance:

  • Test, troubleshoot and repair electronic-mechanical equipment in a fast-paced customer service environment.

 

3. Maintenance:

  • Lubricating, cleaning, or adjusting machinery
  • Inspecting equipment to ensure proper operation and safety
  • Replacing parts that show wear or deterioration
  • Checking, testing and maintaining safety equipment, such as safety barriers, fire extinguishers, or alarm systems
  • Checking for and replacing damaged signage or utilities, such as inadequate lighting
  • Painting and cleaning
  • Preventative maintenance and corrective actions

 

4. Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Safely use and operate basic hand and power tools

 

5. Documentation and Communication:

  • Document actions by completing and maintaining accurate repair logs and documentation.
  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years verifiable experience as an Electrical /Mechanical Technician
  • Experience with building and troubleshooting wiring harnesses
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, understand and execute verbal & written instructions and speak fluent English
  • Excellent knowledge of a motor and its internal components
  • Understanding of conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, judgment and attention to detail

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of basic clutch and bearing systems
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment to achieve common goal
  • Requires Safe Work Habits
  • Maintain good attendance

 

Physical Requirements

  • Periodically lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Spend hours standing, sitting, and/or walking during a normal day.

 

Education & Certifications

  • Electrical Certification

Working Environment, Schedule and Travel

  • Normal work hours (5 - 8-hour days – Mon – Fri)
    • 5:00AM – 1:30PM
  • Must be flexible to work overtime as required

As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$77,000 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect.   We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process.  At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors.  This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan.  SPX offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401K retirement with a company match, and flexible time off.   More information about our benefits can be found on the “Rewards and Benefits” section of our career page.
