The Director, Project Management Integration – M&A will oversee the planning and execution of integration activities for newly acquired companies, ensuring a smooth and value-driven transition into SPX. This role plays a critical part in achieving the strategic objectives of each acquisition by orchestrating cross-functional efforts across business units, corporate teams, and acquired entities.
Working closely with SPX leadership and key functional stakeholders, the Director will design and manage integration plans that align with the deal rationale and value creation targets. This includes ensuring operational continuity, optimizing synergy capture, aligning cultures and systems, and delivering measurable outcomes within defined timelines and budgets.
This is a highly visible role that acts as the central point of coordination across multiple stakeholders, driving accountability and resolving issues as they arise. The Director will also help institutionalize integration best practices across the organization by capturing lessons learned and refining SPX’s M&A integration approach over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Day 1 Readiness & Planning:
Partner with target company executives, SPX Business Unit (BU) leaders, corporate functions, and third-party advisors to develop and execute a robust Day 1 readiness plan that minimizes disruption and ensures business continuity. - Integration Strategy & Execution:
Translate deal and diligence findings into a comprehensive integration roadmap with clear workstreams, milestones, success metrics, and risk mitigation strategies. - Cross-Functional Leadership:
Mobilize and coordinate cross-functional teams across SPX, the target company, and corporate stakeholders to drive seamless execution of the integration plan. - Performance Tracking & Reporting:
Monitor progress against integration milestones, proactively identify risks, and prepare regular updates and dashboards for executive leadership, highlighting progress, issues, and decisions needed. - Synergy Realization:
Partner with Finance and functional leads to define and track synergy targets, ensure accountability for delivery, and support execution of synergy capture initiatives. - Change Management & Communication:
Drive stakeholder engagement through transparent communication, thoughtful change management strategies, and a focus on aligning cultures, systems, and values. Create and deploy first year communication plans. - Issue Resolution & Escalation Management:
Act as the central point of contact for resolving integration-related challenges, escalating critical issues to senior leadership with clear recommendations. - Post-Close Review:
Lead post-integration reviews, capture lessons learned, and continuously improve SPX’s M&A integration playbook and capabilities. - Support overall HVAC strategic planning process, along with drive creation and tracking of KPI’s.
- Travel:
Willingness to travel up to 50% to support integration efforts on-site across various business and geographic locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in M&A integration, corporate development, management consulting, or cross-functional project leadership.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully leading complex business integrations with measurable value creation.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to influence at all levels of the organization and build trust quickly.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or B2B sectors is preferred.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to understand key business drivers and deal models.
