How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Master Scheduler, you will be critical to the company’s success by optimizing production processes through overseeing and monitoring production planning and inventory controls. As a key member of the team, you will create and maintain schedules, address materials shortages, and optimize labor utilization. The successful Master Scheduler will have a strong analytical mindset in order to analyze capacity and inventory, enabling data driven decisions to maximize customer satisfaction and reduce costs.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1. Production Scheduling
- Coordinate with production leadership daily to determine workflow and prioritization of production schedules across all product lines
- Prepare and communicate daily/weekly production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of orders
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including production, procurement, sales and logistics, to ensure timely execution of production plans
- Continuously monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet customer demands
- Monitor material shortages, constraints, other issues that may impact production schedules and coordinated the rearrangement of schedules with affected departments
- Create and present analyses on schedule status and overall performance to schedule
- Collaborate with sales to forecast demand by product line
2. Inventory Management
- Manage quarterly and yearly physical inventory function
- Implement and maintain a cycle counting program
- Ability to reconcile cycle counts and provide analysis
- Collaborate with Purchasing Department on stock levels
- Recommend changes in scrap factors
3. Continuous Improvement:

Drive improvement in overall process efficiencies and communications to key stakeholders
- Analyse data on labour, materials, and production processes to identify cost/time saving initiatives and partner to implement such initiatives
- Act as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions
- Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 2 years in planning, scheduling or supply chain in a manufacturing environment
- 2 years’ experience with ERP/ MRP system
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand trends and draw conclusions from complex data sets
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly, concisely, and professionally
- Self-directed and detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision
- Knowledge of inventory management principles and techniques
- Exhibits strong initiative, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
- Knowledge of multi-level BOM’s and life cycle management
- Experience public speaking and facilitating meetings, including ability to present and explain data to an audience
- Proven ability to assess situations and develop plans to achieve resolution
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel for data analytics (formulas, pivot tables, data maintenance)
- 5 years’ experience in SAP or similar MRP system
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or equivalent preferred
Travel & Working Environment
- Onsite
- Manufacturing working environment and may be exposed to bad weather, excessive heat and/or noise
