How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Inventory and Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for the oversight of operations involving Inventory including Material Handling, Warehousing, Receiving, Logistics for Patterson-Kelley located in East Stroudsburg, PA.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Warehouse Management
  • Organize, optimize and maintain inventory and storage area
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure fulfilling customer orders, maintain inventory control to minimize errors and discrepancies, collaborate with procurement and production to manage inventory turnover
  • Coordinate and collaborate on cycle count processes and procedures
  • Analysis and reporting through on site information systems and identification of variances of the physical inventories to appropriate teams
  • Keep shrinkage and customer service levels within standards and support control requirements

 

  1. Logistics Management
  • Coordinate and direct activities in the operation of material handling, receiving, and logistics relative to support fluctuating levels of production to satisfy production needs
  • Responsible for manpower projections, facilities planning, and shipping and logistics of required material for the facility

 

  1. Continuous Improvement and Safety: 
    • Issue reports and updates to leadership concerning departmental KPI’s and related information
  • Analyze and implement improvements to current internal systems and processes
  • Promote and lead best in class safety and housekeeping practices. Perform all required site duties in a safe and efficient manner with focus on material handling safety
  • Control departmental cost to achieve success within or below budget, identify cost savings and managing departmental spend

 

  1. Supervisory Leadership and Collaboration:   
  • Coach and mentor associates to achieve goals as outlined, ensuring collaboration and a positive working environment
  • Foster open communication and promote a culture of trust and engagement, embodying the SPX core values 
  • Lead, attract, retain, and develop team and ensure employees have the equipment and information necessary to achieve
  • Organize the workflow of department by setting objectives, preparing schedules, and communicating objectives and progress to team 
  • Serve as point of contact for employee concerns and grievances, actively listening and, in partnership with HR, using a proactive approach to conflict resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in inventory control/material handling management field
  • Experience in direct supervision of a team is recommended and/or functional oversight of related logistics, material handling, and similar departments
  • Computer use proficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel is required. Experience and Familiarity working with an ERP system (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, etc)
  • Knowledge of production, transportation, inventory shipping, contract orders, product forecasting, replenishment and other functions that would affect the customers
  • Strong analytical, leadership, team-building, and project management skills

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions/movement within the facility 
  • Possesses excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess and solve problems involving limited warehouse space and time constraints
  • Strong knowledge of LEAN concepts and applications
  • Must be able to communicate objectives clearly and translate plans into action for the benefit of the organization
  • Must be able to prioritize requests from many sources
  • The ability to work across cross-functional lines and achieve beneficial change
  • Conflict resolution abilities with a positive attitude

 

Education & Certifications

  • Associates Degree preferred, BS/BA degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business, a plus

 

Travel & Working Environment

  • Minimal travel (<5%) that may include visits to other facilities, vendors and training
  • The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Manufacturing Environment frequently require use of foot and eye protection when in production areas
