This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain branded products. Weil-McLain is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881. 

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Fabrication Engineer, you will work to improve Weil-McLain's companywide cost of quality and assure products, service and manufacturing systems meet company expectations with focus in the fabrication function.

 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Safety champion for area of responsibility.  Promote and lead best in class safety and housekeeping practices. Perform all required site duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Lead and develop effective personnel to ensure an efficient, motivated, and skilled workforce.
    • Coach and mentor associates to achieve goals.
    • Promote and maintain team effectiveness and morale as demonstrated by positive actions, attitudes and judgment.
    • Cross-train team associates.
  1. Ensure production schedule follow through to insure on time delivery of orders, audits production reporting. 
  2. Expedite as required materials procurement and processes throughout the factory, making necessary priority decisions to assure prompt delivery of quality product and determine manpower requirements to maximize throughput of product.
  3. Coordinates repairing of equipment and tooling with Maintenance in order to maintain the production schedule and avoid excessive down time. 
  4. Recommend improvements and desirable modifications in organization, product flow, procedures, and policies, cost standards, engineering specifications, methods, processes and equipment.
  5. Ensures proper maintenance and good housekeeping of tools, machines, equipment and facilities.
  6. Review and analyze various manufacturing and labor reports to determine reasons for variances from plan and take appropriate corrective action and monitor parts and process quality levels to assure production is in accordance with established specifications and standards. 
  7. Assist manufacturing engineering with new product development and implementation.
  8. Work cross-functional with all departments to ensure quality and maximize productivity

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience

  • Experience in quality, manufacturing or continuous improvement engineering is preferred.
  • Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Having a good understanding of product flow and understanding of planning manufacturing operations is essential. 
  • Demonstrates strong Coaching/Mentoring and Personnel Development skills.
  • Must have excellent safety and quality leadership record
  • Able to lead people and manage processes through a continually changing environment
  • Flexible, open to change and able to handle ever-changing priorities
  • Must be results oriented with a proven track record of achieving business goals.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Experience with JD Edwards preferred
  • Experience working with cross functional teams
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to assess situations and develop plans to quickly resolve
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in stamping, metal forming, and welding environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Powder Coat is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment Preferred
  • 3+ years experience in Quality Assurance desired

 

Education & Certifications

  • B.S. Degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or equivalent) preferred; 3 to 5 years related experience preferred; or combination of education and experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred

 

Travel & Working Environment

  • Up to 25% travel
  • Majority of day spent on the shop floor.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time to monitor floor operations as part of standards and monitoring plant performance.
  • Moderate risk (Requires special mitigating precautions and/or personal protective equipment or due to potential risk with machinery or chemicals).
