As part of Detection and Measurement, Radiodetection is a global leader in the design and development of equipment and software used by utility companies to install, protect, and maintain underground infrastructure networks.  Through precision and magnetic locators and ground penetrating radar, we help prevent damage to infrastructure utilities and protect lives.

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Finance Controller for the Americas region of SPX Aids to Navigation, you will be responsible for supporting the financial and operational management of the company.  Responsibilities include producing periodic financial reports; maintaining accounting records systems, controls, and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results; and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Additionally, you will have responsibility for the development of the company’s financial forecast and analysis of the periodic financial results. 

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization. Candidates for this role will know how to meet ambitious individual and team-wide goals. A successful Finance Controller will challenge the status quo and be creative in process improvements and adaptable to change.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

 

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis

 

    • Management of the financial close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activities, and financial planning and analysis processes
    • Preparation and review of monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness, explaining all material variances from prior periods and forecasts.
    • Preparation, review and analysis of reserve and accrual calculations
    • Review of manual journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
    • Accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes and deliverables
    • Preparation of the annual and quarterly updates to the financial forecast, including variance analyses and risk modelling to support business reporting requirements
    • Management of the working capital and cash flow reporting process 
    • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic initiatives and business growth

 

  1. Compliance & Controls: 

 

    • Management of Sarbanes-Oxley compliant internal control environment, including testing, reporting and remediation
    • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures; Develop policies and procedures when necessary
    • Oversight of annual physical inventory process
    • Coordination of internal and external audits

 

  1. Business Partnership and Support:

 

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate financial implications of business decisions
    • Support M&A activities, including due diligence and integration of acquired entities.
    • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
    • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance department
    • Review of all large customer contracts to identify and assess performance obligations, variable consideration and other factors impacting revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • All other duties as directed or modified 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

 

Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required; advanced degree is preferred
    • 7+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • 3+ years experience with the financial reporting controls and reporting requirements of a publicly traded company 
    • Ability to write reports and business correspondence and procedure and to effectively present information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public 
    • Experience with SAP ERP system, OneStream financial reporting software, Microsoft Office applications 
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Education & Certifications

    • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
