Summary
The Lead Assembler is responsible for the daily monitoring, planning, and oversight of a specific assembly line(s) in addition to personally assembling aviation obstruction lighting systems and components. This position will report to the Supervisor, Production.
- Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Friday from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Oversees the assembly of aviation obstruction lighting equipment in a timely and efficient manner to established production and quality specifications.
- Monitor, track and ensure inventory accuracy of all parts used in their assembly area
- Assist with the movement of material as required following proper procedures and safety practices.
- Communicate material refill needs of the grocery area to warehouse personnel and direct supervisor for escalation
- Implement standard work for various assemblies in their area of responsibilities
- Inspects parts for defects; makes modifications as needed in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Quickly escalate quality issues through the MRB process
- Train new employees and temporary employees
- Ensure proper data entry procedures are used within their assembly area
- Track and communicate production volumes within their assembly area
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed within their assembly area
- Represent assembly team at daily standup meetings
- Communicate any production issues or needed process improvements to Supervisor, Production
- Aligns, fits, and assembles components into completed units using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and templates following instructions, both written (process sheets) or verbal.
- Works in a positive/results oriented manner in order to get the job done under minimal supervision, always being viewed as open, ethical, and trustworthy.
- Works in a highly collaborative manner with others to pursue department/company goals.
- Effectively utilizes available resources, technology, and tools to complete work.
- Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures as well as additional legal regulatory requirements.
- Actively participates in operational problem solving/quality improvement activities.
- Properly follows all safety procedures and policies to include ESD guidelines.
- Efficiently prioritizes and performs job requirements and activities based on open communication with the Supervisor and others.
Education & Experience:
- High School graduate
- 1+ years in an ISO environment
- Good technical background
- Requires minimal supervision
- SAP proficiency
- Exposure to LEAN Manufacturing techniques and methodologies.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a climate-controlled production assembly environment working under normal production conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, caustic chemicals, and the risk of electric shock. It is therefore necessary to adhere to all established safety guidelines/procedures.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear; the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
