How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Assembler, you will assemble and/or fabricate metal wire and cable based mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a specific area of a production line.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
- Utilize handheld tools such as jigs, fixtures, crimpers, screw drivers, wrenches, etc.
- Utilize power tools such as cut off saws, curing ovens, swagers, metal wire counters, metal wire reeling machines, metal wire benders, metal wire pullers, etc.
- Maintain inventory of products in workstation areas.
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
- Rework and/or repair assembled metal wire and cable products according to engineering specification changes.
- Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 1-2 years’ mechanical assembly experience or equivalent.
- Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions.
- Basic computer navigation and utilization skills.
- Basic measuring skills.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Regularly lift or pull 30-50 pounds.
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Regularly perform tasks standing.
- Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forklift Certification is a Plus
Travel & Working Environment
- Required to drive between local facility buildings
- The work environment is primarily in the warehouse, where employees are expected to stand and may be exposed to loud noise levels, vibrations, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. They may also be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, hazardous physical substances and fumes. Workers must possess a variety of practical skills, interpersonal abilities, and industry knowledge to effectively handle and maintain organization, including the ability to operate heavy machinery and maintain inventory records.
The compensation information that follows is a reasonable estimate for the position and is provided pursuant to legal requirements in this state. The salary estimate provided represents the typical salary range for the position, and other factors may be used to determine the successful candidate’s actual salary, including: skill set, experience, training, education, organizational needs, internal equity, market data, and geographic zone. The estimated hourly pay rate range for this position is: $21.54 - $28.00 per hour. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan.
