What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Establish and enforce best buying practices, procurement policies, and ethical standards.
  • Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable to KPIs (cost savings, delivery performance, inventory turns, etc.).

 

  1. Procurement Strategy & Process Optimization
  • Develop and implement strategic supply chain plans aligned with company objectives, considering factors such as demand forecasting, inventory management, and production scheduling.
  • Analyze market trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improving supply chain efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Develop and implement scalable procurement processes, tools, and strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Use data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

 

  1. Inventory Management and MRP
  • Drive inventory analysis and lead optimization efforts to align inventory levels with customer demand and business goals.
  • Facilitate inventory optimization techniques such as demand forecasting, safety stock analysis, and inventory replenishment planning.
  • Oversee the ongoing improvement of MRP tools and planning parameters.
  • Collaborate with planning and production to align material availability with production schedules.

 

  1. Sourcing and Cost Management
  • Manage material costs through effective sourcing strategies, leveraging data, and inventory control practices.
  • Partner with corporate sourcing and global supply chain by offering recommendations for and executing on cost reduction initiatives and localized sourcing opportunities.
  • Support corporate sourcing on key initiatives such as supplier contract negotiations, sourcing events, risk mitigation and scorecards.

 

  1. Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration
  • Support and contribute to the S&OP process by providing input on material availability, lead times, and purchasing constraints.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Customer Service, and Production to improve internal team expectations and drive a better partnership.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to support new product introductions, ECOs, and supply risk mitigation.
  • Participate in projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals and the department and organization.

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years in production, procurement or supply chain roles, including 5+ years of management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
  • Proven track record of success and meeting company goals in inventory optimization and cost management.
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects that involve process improvement and change management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate change management with teammates at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems – Infor XA and AX preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, conduct root cause analysis, and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Birst, Tableau.
  • Experience in ERP/MRP implementations focused on manufacturing, inventory & distribution processes.
  • Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

 

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field; APICS/ISM certification preferred.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Office environment.
