JOB SUMMARY |
The MEP NPI Engineer will design, test and develop product and product components following company and industry standards; develop non-routine test and evaluation procedures; assist in supervision of laboratory activities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Design and develop product component parts, product subassemblies, and product complete assemblies according to company and industry standards.
- Develop test methods, instrumentation and procedures not covered by recognized Approval Agency requirements or rating codes. Administer and carry out these test programs with team’s engineers and lab technicians.
- Analyze and interpret test data and make product revisions as necessary to comply with safety and performance requirements and standards.
- Analyze, interpret, and be able to use test data to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
- Work with drafting personnel on the product detailed layout, detailed prints, parts specifications, and Bill of Material.
- Formulate product specifications and update these specifications as required.
- Work with Director of Product Compliance, Plant Manufacturing Engineering Team, Product Managers, Commodity Managers, and other Product Engineers to enable efficient execution of resolutions to issues. Provide needed technical information/assistance to other departments.
- Schedule the activities relative to the design and development of a product or project assignment. Update the schedule as required.
- Become thoroughly knowledgeable about the Approval Agency requirements of concern, such as UL or CSA.
- Suggest new product ideas and maintain records for potentially patentable ideas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience in Design/Product Engineering
- Experience with Heat Transfers and Air Movements is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
Proficient at the following:
- Project Management– From design concept to manufacturing
- Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Preferred Training in the following areas:
- Quality Documentation
- 3D Modeling
- FEA
- CFD
- Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of ISO based quality system
- Experience with design-for-manufacturing methods
