This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">®  branded products. Weil-McLain<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">® is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881. 

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Foundry Supervisor, you will direct and coordinate activities of assigned departments and personnel engaged in various areas of the foundry operation in processing materials or manufacturing products, involving full accountability for results in terms of costs, methods, quality and quantity of production. The successful Foundry  Supervisor will have strong leadership abilities and a passion for operational excellence. 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Leadership and Supervision
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in making cores and molds, in charging, operating, and tapping furnaces, in pouring molten metal into molds, and in chipping, grinding, and sandblasting castings. Examines materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications: castings that meet, or exceed, our functional and quality requirements.
  • Direct hourly employees in proper conduct, consistent with work practices, plant rules, and contractual regulations.
  • Promote good working relationships among all foundry employees including Union, Management, and Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Provide training and to promote continuing education.
  • Work with HR to process and approve weekly attendance and vacation records for foundry employees.
  • Promote and develop SPX leadership standards.
     
  1. Production, Planning, and Material Management
  • Enter and verify all daily cast iron inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and assist in monthly and year-end cycle count.
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations.
  • Work within cross functional teams to achieve company successes – such as Maintenance, Machine Shop, Shipping, and Engineering.

     

     3.  Continuous Improvement 

  • Coordinate and direct activities of hourly foundry personnel to produce castings that meet, or exceed, our functional and quality requirements.
  • Promote and direct good safety and housekeeping practices throughout Foundry.
  • Use ERP system and other technology to prepare reports for planning, performance monitoring, issue identification, and improvement
  • Maintain accurate records including: production reports, inventory data, safety logs, employee performance records, time and attendance records
  • Create reports on key performance indicators
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout the facility to enhance efficiency, equipment performance, quality, reduce cost, and optimize operations
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 5+ years industrial / manufacturing experience
  • 2-3 years of leadership / supervisor experience
  • Previous foundry experience or heavy industrial work experience preferred

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and computer skills.  Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated, strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems. Experience with JD Edwards is a plus.
  • Ability to accept change and adapt to schedules changes due to fluctuations in customer demands.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments to achieve best customer & company results.

 

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required
  • 2 year Technical Degree or equivalent preferred
     

Travel & Working Environment

  • Minimum travel may be required. Less than 5%.
  • Workplace is onsite in a manufacturing environment.
