This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain®  branded products. Weil-McLain® is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881. 

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As Quality Assurance (QA) Technician, you will be responsible for championing and driving quality initiatives and lean manufacturing concepts. Your efforts will work to enhance and support quality in the manufacturing and production process, while also supporting operational efficiency and productivity. The QA Tech will work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, shipping / receiving, and customer support, to identify and resolve technical issues, suggest design improvements, and support product enhancements. This role will contribute to maintaining and improving the quality and performance of our products in the market, as well as providing technical support to internal and external stakeholders.

 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Process Optimization and Operations:
  • Schedule and performs internal audits of all processes as needed.
  • Perform calibrations and maintain certification records on designated schedule.
  • Participates and assists the scrap reduction teams with scrap analysis by product and defect, to improve the product quality and meet overall MC Plant scrap target.

 

  1. Technical Support, Documentation, and Data Analysis: 
  • Assists on creating and documenting Process Failure Mode Analysis [FMEA], Control Plans, Process Flow diagrams and Measurement System Analysis [MSA].
  • Writes and audits standard work instruction for site operations.
  • Data entry for statistical process control and design of experiments.
  • Generates weekly, monthly reports as needed.

 

     3.  Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement 

  • Performs Certified Individual (CI) duties specified on the Quality Assurance Manual of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Maintains the Quality System databases regarding to NCR, CPAR, Procedures and Work Instructions documents, Process Change Management, or any other database required by QA.
  • Support requirements of External Quality System Audits, for instance, ASME, UL, CSA.
  • Coordinates Statistical Process Control activities to support QA initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and streamlining technical support procedures.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a technical field
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of boilers, related products is preferred
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills, both technical and with customers; and ability to perform duties quickly, efficiently, and accurately
  • Ability to understand each customer's quality and on-time measurements and can facilitate action necessary to meet those expectations
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Exceptional Analytical Skills with strong Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to change, seasonal activity, new product additions, and changing duties and responsibilities

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Professional technical school training, associate’s degree or higher preferred
  • Quality Control inspection and statistical process control (SPC) preferred
     

Physical Demands

  • Repetitive telephone and keyboard use; continuous use of a headset and computer monitor

Travel & Working Environment

  • Minimum travel may be required.  Less than 5%
  • Workplace is a normal open office environment
