Machine Center Apprentice

Job Summary / Objective

Entry level apprentice position. This position will allow you the opportunity to gain the knowledge of every area within the Machine Center - CNC Machines, Manual Machines, Weld, Paint, Deburr, Packaging and Maintenance. Under general supervision, perform assignments involving drilling, grinding, sand blasting, and other machine shop functions. This role is to support all areas of the machine shop wherever required by Shop Lead and Manager.

  • Duties will include preventive maintenance of various CNC machines and building services.
  • Lifting and moving product on and around the production floor.
  • Operate general shop tools, such as, drill presses, grinders and sand blaster.
  •  Aid in cleaning and deburring precision parts.
  • Grind and clean welds.
  • Mask, sand and clean parts to prep for paint.
  • Saw cut all materials to router specification using various saws based on material.
  • Complete router transactions for time spent on each work order.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Basic math understanding
  • Mechanical ASSY understanding
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions
  • Understand concepts including - process improvement, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goal.
  • Ability to follow safety and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain clean and safe working environment.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • +1 year in Machine Shop.
  • Machine Shop deburring and packaging experience.
  • Drilling, grinding and sanding experience.

 

Working Conditions / Work Schedule / Travel

  • Normal work hours [4 - 10 hour days (MON – THUR)] – days may vary
    • 1st Shift - 5:00AM to 3:30PM
  • Overtime as required

 

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
  • Remain standing on feet for long periods of time
  • Frequent carrying, grasping, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping for parts and supplies.
