As part of Detection and Measurement, CUES is the world’s leading developer of water, wastewater, and storm water inspection equipment. With CCTV cameras, pre-built vehicles, and software for pipeline inspection and rehabilitation, we improve the safety and reliability of our water infrastructure systems.
How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting our manufacturing processes, optimizing efficiency, and ensuring the highest quality of standards are met. You will be essential to execute and drive tasks to support Operations set up for new products as well as existing work-centers and help sustain high quality in the products. You play an important role in working closely with manufacturing to ensure process, quality and product controls are met. This position is hands-on and will require knowledge in electrical and mechanical system integrations.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1. Manufacturing Process Optimization & Efficiency:
- Lead Industrial Engineering deliverables for all locally manufactured products
- Develop and implement best new practices for manufacturing used within the C product line
- Ensure optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating layout of areas such as storage, testing equipment, and inventory to accommodate changing production requirements
- Define and optimize operator tasks and rebalance operations to achieve optimal headcount
- Complete value streams for all product lines ensuring optimal material flow through the factory
- Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs
- Track and publish efficiency data for production lines
2. Production Line & Workplace Design:
- Lead cross-functional teams to design production lines and manual workstations ensuring safety and best ergonomic practices
- Evaluate assembly methods to ensure correct tools and fixtures are available, lead tool and fixture development for new product lines
- Develops and maintains management information, planning, and control systems
3. Continuous Improvement:
- Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, trends, and technology; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization’s competitive edge
- Support problem-solving efforts as it relates to manufacturing SQCD.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Education and/or Experience
- BS degree in Process, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 2-4 years of progressive experience in industrial, process, or manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, process quality, manufacturing operations or other related interactive experience.
- CAD software efficiency
- LEAN manufacturing skills
- Automation systems familiarity
- Able to interpret circuit schematic, PCB layout, and mechanical drawings.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- OSHA Standards
- GD&T, Capability Analysis, Corrective Action Tools, Design for Manufacturability, Solid works, CATIA,3D visualization software (Composer).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Word).
- Project Management
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish)
Education & Certifications
- Kaizen Promotion Officer
- Lean Sigma Green Belt
Travel & Working Environment
- 8:00AM – 5PM Monday – Friday
- Must be flexible to work overtime as required
- Machine shop, manufacturing, material storage, and office environments
- Occasional travel may be necessary for training, supplier assessments, etc. Travel may include overnight stays
- Requires performing work at a desk and computer; standing and walking throughout manufacturing and office areas for extended periods, handling of hardware under evaluation, set-up and use of metrology and test equipment, and occasionally involves working outside of facility.
- Occasionally lifting objects up to 40lbs without assistance
