How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

As the Parts Sales Representative, you will be critical to the company’s success and customer satisfaction by effectively promoting and selling parts.  Your primary responsibility will be to build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers, ensuring their parts’ needs are met promptly and accurately. The successful Parts Sales Representative has strong communication skills and customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

 

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

 

  • Customer Service and Sales
    • Take parts orders to support customers and dealerships, providing outstanding customer service
    • Assist customers in determining their specific needs, presenting suitable solutions and parts to meet needs
    • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and expert guidance on parts selection
    • Research and resolve solve customer inquiries and claims promptly and professionally, striving for effective solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
    • Proactively communicate with customers regarding order status updates, product availability, and any potential delays
    • Collaborate with technical support teams to accurately identify customer needs and make appropriate recommendations
    • Filter and publish price lists to our dealerships

 

  • Order Processing and Documentation
    • Review and process customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
    • Work with Accounting to maintain accurate customer account information
    • Liaise with other internal departments to coordinate order fulfilment and resolve any issues or delays
    • Establish reminders for necessary follow ups and ongoing monitoring
    • Complete Material Return Authorization (MRA) paperwork when defective or incorrect parts must be returned
    • Assist Engineering with maintaining accurate part numbers and descriptions

 

  • Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain strong understanding of products and parts, pricing structures, and relevant technical specifications to provide accurate information
    • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
    • Provide feedback and insights on customer interactions to improve customer service practices
    • Stay updated on product knowledge, industry trends, and company updates to provide accurate and relevant information
    • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

 

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

 

Required Experience

  • Two years Parts Sales experience

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with pipeline inspection equipment (CUES preferred)
  • Proficient in mathematical calculations (discounts/percentages)
  • Possess basic electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Have basic knowledge of technical drawings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly, concisely, and professionally
  • Comfortable interacting with customers from the lowest level to upper management
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with conflict resolution abilities to address customer issues with a positive attitude, patience, and respect
  • Detailed oriented approach, ensuring accuracy in data entry and order processing
  • Able to work with others, questioning back and forth, to determine the correct parts required
  • Must be highly motivated self-starter that can handle stressful situations

 

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two year business degree preferred (or military equivalent)

 

Travel & Working Environment

  • Normal work hours are 8am to 5pm Mon-Fri
  • Maintain excellent attendance
