How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an HR Assistant, you will provide Human Resources support to the Cooling Business Unit in the Americas. Key responsibilities include HR program management, creating and maintaining employee files, and updating various systems and documents with HR data. The successful incumbent is prompt, courteous, diplomatic, detail-oriented, and manages tasks with efficiency and confidentiality.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Administer HR programs such as wellness reimbursement and service awards
- Administer multiple employee recognition programs, which includes collecting nominations, coordinating committee and leadership review processes, and the creation and distribution of awards
- Conduct new hire orientations and assist with onboarding plans for salaried employees
- Manage non-exempt employee data in timekeeping system
- Submit time and attendance files to payroll
- Communicate annual enrollment process for benefits and assist employees with benefits questions as needed
- Coordinate communications with Marketing on service awards, recognition awards, new hires, promotions, and job openings for the global Cooling newsletter and other employee communications
- Complete projects and audits related to records retention and compliance
- Prepare employee new hire gifts and other awards
- Assemble and mail new hire packets for construction employees
- Generate reports on new hires and terminations in order to maintain email distribution lists, floor plan document, and company credit card access
- Manage special continuous-improvement HR projects to improve cost and efficiency
- Organize and process HR invoices, purchasing card transactions, and interview candidate expense reports
- Manage HR vendors to budget including compliance posters, vending, and safety
- Assist in the coordination of meetings and events for the HR team and general employee base
- Coordinate community involvement efforts with employees and various philanthropic organizations
- Attend college career fairs and assist with job postings and other aspects of college recruiting program
- Complete employment verifications
- Order office supplies
- Be backup to answer main phone line for Overland Park office and route phone calls to appropriate parties
- Act as point person for visitors to the Overland Park office
- Create and maintain employee files
- Create and maintain reports containing sensitive HR data
- Uphold the security and confidentiality of HR documents and data
- Perform other tasks and HR projects as assigned

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in HR-related field preferred
- HR experience preferred
- Recruiting software / HRIS experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
