As part of Detection and Measurement, Radiodetection is a global leader in the design and development of equipment and software used by utility companies to install, protect, and maintain underground infrastructure networks.  Through precision and magnetic locators and ground penetrating radar, we help prevent damage to infrastructure utilities and protect lives.

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Project Manager – Key Accounts, you will serve as a key technical advisor to SPX sales teams and representatives, managing all aspects of customer service and full-cycle project execution within your assigned territory. The incumbent will oversee order processing, contract review, compliance, margin management, and issue resolution, while coordinating with internal departments to ensure timely shipments, quality standards, and customer satisfaction. This role supports aftermarket solutions, drives continuous improvement through the quality management system, and contributes technical and engineering expertise across multiple product lines and customer accounts.

The successful incumbent effectively manages a challenging workload and, as needed, delegates tasks to supporting roles. Success in this role demands outstanding organizational, project planning, project management, and communication skills.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1.    Technical Expertise and Customer Solutions
•    Maintain expert-level product knowledge and articulate technical value to both business and technical users.
•    Evaluate customer needs and deliver technical solutions aligned with SPX’s product portfolio.
•    Support design/spec development for engineers and consultants; assist with special pricing and RFIs/RFPs.
•    Provide training for sales teams, reps, and customers; support product development with market feedback.

2.    Project and Order Management
•    Manage end-to-end project execution including submittals, order processing, scheduling, and communication.
•    Maintain margins through effective change order handling, risk mitigation, and value creation strategies. 
•    Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and corporate standards (e.g. SOX, insurance, warranty claims.)
•    Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing plants, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

3.      Process Improvement and Leadership   
•    Mentor other project managers and provide backup for the Project Management Manager.
•    Streamline order management processes and lead “Lessons Learned” initiatives.
•    Support Finance in cash collection efforts and warranty/claims resolution.
•    Conduct plant visits to support execution and quality, and initiate improvement actions where needed.

What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience & Skills
•    3-5 years of project or construction management or related customer service experience
•    Engineering application and design experience
Ideal Experience & Skills
•    Experience in accounting, engineering, construction management, and/or supply chain preferred
•    Product knowledge and familiarity with HVAC, industrial processes, power plants, or cooling towers, as well as engineering documents is desirable
•    Technical aptitude and broad engineering knowledge
•    Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
•    Proficiency with SAP or other ERP
•    Project scheduling experience
•    Ability to travel
•    Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
•    Ability to communicate effectively verbally
Education & Certifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
•    Project Management Certification, preferred
•    Driver’s License and proof of insurance
Travel & Working Environment
•    Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period.
•    Ability to travel to Olathe plant.
•    May require working in an outside environment; exposure to excessive noise, heat, or bad weather. 
•    The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. 
•    Keyboarding/typing.
•    Occasional lifting up to 5 pound, bending/stooping
•    Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy.
•    Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment.
