As the Facility Maintenance & EHS Supervisor, you will lead the maintenance team while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. Your work will be instrumental in creating a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible workplace.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Facility Maintenance Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and train the maintenance team to ensure operational efficiency.
- Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Develop and manage maintenance schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and projects.
- EHS Oversight:
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and regular inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage hazardous materials handling, waste disposal, and other environmental programs.
3. Collaboration and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, EHS audits, and compliance reports.
- Act as a key liaison between maintenance and other departments, aligning operational goals with safety priorities.
- Prepare and present EHS and maintenance performance metrics to leadership.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in facility maintenance or EHS roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal EHS regulations and best practices.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven expertise in managing mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency with CMMS and safety reporting tools.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Facilities Management).
- CRSP designation or similar EHS certification (preferred).
- Trade certification in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems (an asset).
Travel & Working Environment
- Minimal travel required for training or external audits.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment, including heights and confined spaces.
