How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will plan and work on improvements, repairs and, preventive maintenance on all foundry equipment, machining equipment, and facility. This role is also responsible for directing Electricians, Maintenance Technicians, and Laborers to a 100 % uptime goal. Another primary objective is supporting manufacturing to improve safety, quality, maximize productivity, and contribute to the overall profitability of the organization.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Mechanical Maintenance
- Plan all repair activities associated with equipment and facility maintenance.
- Troubleshooting of plant equipment.
- Manage the preventative maintenance and repair activities associated with equipment and facility maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Identify potential mechanical risks in the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies.
- Main point of contact for contractors performing maintenance/repairs on equipment
- Develop, schedule, and complete necessary capital projects.
- Promote good working relationships among all foundry employees including Union, Management, and Quality Assurance personnel.
- Promote and develop SPX leadership standards.
- Teamwork
- Responsible for training and developing maintenance technicians.

3. Continuous Improvement
- Promote and direct good safety and housekeeping practices.
- Use ERP system and other technology to prepare reports for planning, performance monitoring, issue identification, and improvement
- Maintain accurate records including production reports, inventory data, safety logs, employee performance records, time and attendance records
- Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout the facility to enhance efficiency, equipment performance, quality, reduce cost, and optimize operations
- Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 5+ years combined industrial, mechanical, and electrical experience
- 2+ years of leadership / supervisor experience
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Previous manufacturing experience with Al extrusions and punches
- Strong organizational and computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated, strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of ERP Systems.
- Ability to accept change and adapt to schedules changes due to fluctuations in customer demands.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple departments to achieve best customer & company results.
- Ability to manage projects with internal and external resources.
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent is required
- 2 year Technical Degree or equivalent preferred
- Certification in Advance Hydraulics, Industrial Electricity, Motor Control, & Programmable Logic Controls or equivalent experience
Travel & Working Environment
- Minimum travel may be required. Less than 5%.
- Workplace is onsite in a manufacturing environment.
