What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

- Leadership & Strategy
- Actively participate as a key member of the plant leadership team to shape operational strategy and engineering direction.
- Ability to influence and interact with matrix based structure and external stakeholders
- Lead, mentor, develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration. Align engagement and continuous improvement with SPX core values. (Lead, Teach, Coach)
- Engineering & Project Management
- Direct engineering projects, ensuring they are executed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Lead capital investment projects and equipment upgrades to improve manufacturing capabilities.
- Guide process optimization initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
- Utilize LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem solving methodologies.
- Experience in simplifying and restructuring manufacturing footprints, implementing automation that drive solutions to enhance market share and profitability.
- Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Apply LEAN principles to reduce cycle times, standardize work, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Engage, empower, and enable employees at all levels to foster a culture of continuous improvement through Kaizen activities.
- Identify key engineering KPI’s ensuring measurable improvements.
- Partner with leadership on long-term strategic planning and capacity expansion projects.
- Experience with component manufacturing and final product assembly business that services demanding customer base.
- Safety & Quality
- Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to all health and safety policies.
- Collaborate with safety teams to proactively identify risks and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure the highest level of product quality and services through predefined standards and specifications before released to manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and workplace safety standards.
- Budgeting & Cost Optimization
- Develop and manage the engineering department budget.
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in operations.
- Strong background in LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven experience in project management, capital investments, and process optimization.
- Hands-on experience with automation, production systems, and process engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams with proven experience leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10+ years Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and Facilities experience.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret KPIs and drive measurable improvements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field).
- PMP certification or equivalent project management experience preferred.
- LEAN Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred.
- MBA preferred.
Travel & Working Environment
- Onsite role, in the plant, with demonstrated ability to lead and communicate with people at all levels of the organization including external customers.
- Exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
