SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Electronics Engineer, you will research, design, test, implement and maintain electronic systems to meet client or employer needs.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

 

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

 

  • Follow safe work practices and procedures and ensure a “safety first” culture in every task undertaken.
  • Electronics product design, including requirement development and architectural design.
  • Analogue circuit and basic RF design
  • Digital circuit design, working with a range of microcontroller families and peripherals.
  • Switch mode power design, in particular working with high efficiency LED drivers
  • Thermal management of high-powered LEDs and their drivers
  • Designing for low power battery operated applications
  • Work within a cross functional team as follows:
    • Embedded Software and System Engineers on requirements and architectural design
    • Mechanical Engineers cooperating on thermal management and packaging.
    • Sales team and management on requirements, reporting and tracking.
  • Quality optimization for manufacturing and applying a design for manufacture (DFM) in designs.
  • Conducting electronics design verification and working with system engineers on product validation.
  • Handling and monitoring of mandatory and industry specific regulations.
  • Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals, new applications and investigating new technologies.
  • Participation in department improvement activities such as reviewing and updating engineering processes.
  • Communicate with the engineering team and effectively interact with both internal and external stake holders. 
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably directed.​​​​​​​

Required Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field.
  • Considerable relevant industry experience.
  • Expert in Altium Schematic capture, library management and PCB design including working with 3D models.
  • Experience and knowledge using electronics test equipment.
