Customer Support Engineer

SPX Enterprise Control Systems (ECS) designs and produces a range of programmable jammers (RF Inhibitors) and other specialist equipment for use in the high level military and internal security domains.

ECS are seeking a Customer Support Engineer to join our team. You will act as a primary contact for overseas customers providing site surveys, installations, commissioning, maintenance, and training on the ECS COFDM data-link product range.


The role is based out of our offices in Wappenham, Northamptonshire, whilst a high percentage of the work will be overseas you may also be asked to assist with projects in the UK and internationally. The role will require travel overseas, working in a team or individually, normally for up to two weeks at a time, occasionally longer. You must be experienced in rigging as climbing is part of this role.


Responsibilities for the Customer Support Engineerr:

  • Install, commission, maintain ECS COFDM data-link systems
  • Obtain appropriate authorisation for access onto site as and when required
  • Ensure both ECS and customers operational procedures are always adhered to
  • Conduct site surveys and produce survey reports, order materials for installation
  • Arrange packing and shipping of Installation materials
  • Produce risk assessments & method statements for installation
  • Install systems and produce installation and commissioning reports
  • Plan and undertake routine preventative maintenance visits
  • Develop and deliver training packages for ECS COFDM data-link systems


Requirements for Customer Support Engineer:

  • Formal telecoms/electronic/RF qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the operation or maintenance of datalink products an advantage but not essential
  • Must be UK citizen as SC clearance or eligible to apply
  • Adaptability and possess the capability to learn new skills quickly
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner
  • PC skills (IT Literacy)
  • Valid / full UK / EU driving licence
  • Qualified climber with proven rigging experience
  • Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber / Tower Rescue Certification
