This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain® branded products. Weil-McLain® is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881.
How you will make an impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Assembler, you will be responsible for machining, assembling, painting, testing, finishing, and crating boiler parts, sub-assemblies, and packaging boilers. This role requires operating automatic drill/tap machines, fork trucks, presses, jigs, fixtures, spray guns, and various air and hand tools. You will also perform quality and safety checks, install and troubleshoot burners, prepare materials, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Material Handling & Preparation
- Obtain proper tooling and materials and set up for machining, painting, and sub-assembly of various boiler parts.
- Get assembly materials from the Stock Room and pre-stage area and put materials away as needed.
- Operate fork trucks to move materials and support assembly operations.
- Set up equipment and work areas for operating automatic drill/tap machines.
- Assembly, Machining & Finishing
- Machine and/or assemble cast iron, purchased parts, glass, insulation, and refractory materials to make sub-assembled accessory parts for boilers.
- Spray paint various castings, parts, and sub-assemblies.
- Erect and hydrostatically test cast iron boiler blocks.
- Assemble, test, finish, and crate packaged boilers.
- Install refractory to burner mounting plates.
- Testing, Quality & Work Area Support
- Install and troubleshoot gas or oil burners onto boilers.
- Re-assemble, complete water and fire testing, crate, and label boilers for shipment.
- Perform necessary quality and safety checks for boilers using Performance Check Sheets.
- Clean work areas and support housekeeping duties, including running the cardboard baler, hauling compacted bales, and operating the power sweeper.
- Perform all duties required by management.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to compute calculations for materials
- Ability to work in demanding manufacturing environment
- Previous manufacturing and melting experience (Preferred)
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Ability to lift 50-75lbs
- Must be able to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods, as required by the job.
- Requires the use of appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) due to potential hazards associated with machinery or chemicals.
