The below is a position with Marley Engineered Products. Marley Engineered Products is a marketplace leader in innovative comfort heating and ventilation solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. With a portfolio that includes baseboard, wall, unit and infrared heaters as well as ceiling fans and air circulators, we create simplified heating solutions for our complex world.
JOB SUMMARY |
The Tool and Die role is responsible for repair, maintenance, procurement, and/or fabrication of all tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in fabrication and assembly. With primary responsibility for assuring tooling and dies are properly maintained so that production parts conform to strict blueprint specifications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
- Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- May need to design, fabricate, test and produce new tools, gauges and jigs to assist production teams
- Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product and works with external vendors to design and procure tooling and dies.
- Adheres to established tool room practices and safety procedures.
- Assists in setup and troubleshooting of stamping presses, turret presses, and press brakes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
- Must be able to read blue prints.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Ability to work with all levels of employees
Education and Experience |
- Minimum 2+ years hands on experience working as a tool and die marker
- Associates degree or a trade school background in machining/tooling field
- Die making experience
