How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

As the Inside Sales Manager, you will provide leadership for the technical Inside Sales and application engineering teams supporting Electric Heat HVAC and Industrial applications. This role is responsible for setting direction, building scalable processes, strengthening technical and commercial capability, and creating a consistent, high-quality customer and channel experience across brands, product lines, channels, and geographies.

The manager will lead through a period of growth and change by developing team members, clarifying accountability, improving how work is prioritized and executed, and helping the organization adopt new ways of serving customers, sales partners, representatives, distributors, OEMs, and internal stakeholders. The position requires a player/coach who can lead the function strategically while staying close to complex applications, quotations, escalations, project coordination, and cross-functional execution.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

1. Inside Sales Strategy, Direction & Accountability

  • Define priorities, service standards, technical-quality expectations, resource plans, and a capability roadmap for HVAC and Industrial Inside Sales.
  • Establish metrics and operating routines for responsiveness, quote quality, follow-up, conversion, workload, capacity, and customer commitments.
  • Create role clarity and accountability across the team and escalate barriers that put customer or business commitments at risk.
  • Lead the team through change management by clearly communicating priorities, reinforcing accountability, supporting adoption, and maintaining focus through business transitions and process improvements.
  • Serve as a strong partner to outside sales teams and sales leadership by aligning Inside Sales priorities, technical support, quotation execution, and customer responsiveness with business growth objectives.

2. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable application engineers, team leads, and other Inside Sales resources.
  • Build onboarding, technical training, cross-training, career-development, succession, and knowledge-management plans.
  • Develop team members beyond application support by building product awareness, commercial judgment, customer communication, and project-leadership capability.
  • Balance workloads and personally step into critical work during peaks, gaps, complex applications, or escalations.

3. Technical Inside Sales & Customer Experience

  • Lead the customer experience from inquiry and requirements definition through selection, design support, quotation, follow-up, and order transition.
  • Ensure customers, representatives, distributors, OEMs, engineers, contractors, and internal sellers receive accurate, timely, and technically credible support.
  • Lead strategic customer discussions, complex application reviews, quote strategy, escalations, and recovery actions.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Experience to create clear handoffs and consistent communication.
  • Partner with outside sales to improve win rates by providing timely application guidance, quote follow-up, escalation support, and customer-facing technical credibility.

4. Hands-On Application Engineering & Quotation

  • Review plans, specifications, drawings, schedules, and customer requirements and recommend suitable Electric Heat solutions.
  • Personally prepare or review complex selections, quotations, proposals, submittals, pricing inputs, exceptions, and customer documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance related to product use, application, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Perform direct Inside Sales work and coverage when required, including customer inquiries, quote follow-up, project coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Support sales leadership and field teams on priority opportunities by aligning quotation strategy, application recommendations, response timing, and follow-through to help close more business.

5. Project & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead complex customer, quotation, application, and improvement projects with clear scope, milestones, owners, risks, and decisions.
  • Coordinate Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Pricing, Customer Experience, and other functions.
  • Develop team members as project leaders who communicate status, manage actions, escalate barriers, and close commitments.
  • Support product launches by preparing the team, validating application and quotation processes, and resolving execution issues.
  • Work with sales leaders, channel partners, and cross-functional teams to strengthen channel relationships and support market-share growth across brands, channels, and geographies.

6. Product Management Partnership

  • Provide structured customer, application, quotation, competitive, and channel insight to Product Management.
  • Support market research, voice-of-customer work, product requirements, launches, business cases, line reviews, NPI, VAVE, field validation, and training without initially owning portfolio strategy.
  • Use prior product-management experience to coach the team in customer problems, applications, value propositions, market alternatives, and product gaps.
  • Build broader product-management capability through defined stretch assignments and increasing ownership of selected product work under leadership direction.

7. Continuous Improvement & Business Insight

  • Improve tools, workflows, technical content, product data, quotation methods, and knowledge capture to increase speed, accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
  • Use inquiry, quote, workload, win/loss, customer, and service data to identify priorities and improvement opportunities.
  • Represent Inside Sales in operating reviews, customer meetings, product councils, quality discussions, and transformation initiatives.
  • Translate customer, quote, win/loss, and channel feedback into practical actions that help outside sales teams pursue higher-value opportunities and expand reach in targeted markets.
