As part of Detection and Measurement, Radiodetection is a global leader in the design and development of equipment and software used by utility companies to install, protect, and maintain underground infrastructure networks. Through precision and magnetic locators and ground penetrating radar, we help prevent damage to infrastructure utilities and protect lives.
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Lead Industrial Sales Engineer, you will manage and mentor a team of sales professionals, drive strategic sales initiatives, and provide technical expertise to external customers. You will also maintain responsibility for key accounts and work cross-functionally to support Quality, Process, Engineering, and other business functions when technical insight is required.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1. Team Leadership and Sales Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a sales team of 7–9 sales engineers, including coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans aligned with corporate objectives.
- Set territory assignments, sales targets, and performance goals for the team.
- Monitor sales performance metrics and provide actionable feedback to drive team success.
- Promote disciplined use of CRM systems and sales process best practices.
2. Customer Engagement and Direct Sales (30%)
- Maintain relationships with key accounts, including engineers, architects, and other technical personnel in commercial and industrial sectors.
- Collaborate with inside and outside sales representatives on pricing, technical proposals, and presentations.
- Assist with high-value opportunities, negotiations, and closing complex deals.
- Provide technical solutions to satisfy customer needs while supporting corporate objectives.
- Represent SPX at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings to expand networks and business opportunities.
3. Technical Guidance and Expertise
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other customer documentation to develop accurate quotes and proposals.
- Provide technical support relating to the operation, use, and maintenance of equipment.
- Advise sales representatives on technical solutions and application of SPX products.
- Act as liaison between sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Stay current on product developments and recommend enhancements to meet market needs.
- Report competitive and market insights to management.

Required Experience
- 5+ years of industrial sales experience, preferably in electric heat or thermal/fluid management systems.
- Proven experience leading and developing a sales team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial process systems, thermal/fluid management, and electrical circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical specifications, and schematics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire a team.
- Results-oriented mindset with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative, self-directed, and motivated leader.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sales, or Marketing.
Travel & Working Environment
- Hybrid office environment – 2 days on-site
- Up to 20% travel
