This opportunity is for our Electric Heat business. Electric Heat is a trusted leader in electric heating and ventilation solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator/Trumpf Operator produces high-quality parts by safely setting up, loading, unloading, and operating Trumpf fabrication equipment in accordance with production schedules and quality standards. The Machine Operator/Trumpf Operator is responsible for maintaining productivity, ensuring product quality, following safety requirements, and accurately documenting production activity while supporting continuous improvement efforts.

                                                                                                                   

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

1. Machine Operation

  • Set up and operate Trumpf equipment and related machinery according to work instructions and production schedules.
  • Load and unload materials and finished parts safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
  • Perform routine machine adjustments and tool changes as required.
  • Read and follow job travelers, work orders, blueprints, and specifications.

2. Quality Assurance

  • Inspect parts using measuring tools and gauges to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Complete first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Identify and report quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or process concerns.
  • Maintain quality records and production documentation.

3. Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Properly handle materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.

4. Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and daily machine checks.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and organization.
  • Report maintenance needs promptly to supervision.

5. Documentation and Communication

  • Complete production reports, downtime logs, and quality documentation.
  • Communicate shift-to-shift information and production concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, leads, and team members to achieve production goals.
  • Support organizational objectives through flexibility and continuous improvement efforts.

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years Machine Shop Experience
  • Basic math, reading and writing skills
  • Mechanical ASSY understanding
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions
  • Understanding of conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control, judgment and attention to detail

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to create nesting programs using Autodesk Fusion
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goal
  • Requires Safe Work Habits
  • Maintain good attendance
  • CAD/CAM Nesting Software

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Remain standing on feet for long periods of time
  • Frequent carrying, grasping, reaching, pulling, pulling, stooping for parts and supplies

 

Education & Certifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

 

Working Environment, Schedule and Travel

  • Normal work hours (4 – 10 hour days –Tuesday– Fri)
  • Must be flexible to work overtime as required
