How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Materials & Logistics Supervisor, you will be critical to the company’s success through directly overseeing and monitoring the flow of materials throughout two plants. Additionally, you will directly coordinate all aspects of inbound and outbound logistics. The successful Materials & Logistics Supervisor will have a strong analytical mindset, function with a sense of urgency and possess the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1. Material Handling
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of material handlers, ensuring that they adhere to established safety procedures and guidelines
- Oversee the receiving, storing, and organizing of materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient workflow and space utilization
- Coordinate the timely receiving and shelving of purchased components
- Partner with purchasing to improve delivery method inbound freight from vendors
- Manage flow of materials to operators and between buildings
- Ensure manufactured parts are available timely
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as production, scheduling, and quality, to ensure smooth material flow and timely delivery to meet production schedules
- Partner with Master Scheduler to coordinate cycle counting program
- Suggest improvement plans based on outcomes of cycle counts
2. Logistics
- Secure and oversee shipping arrangements of units, including working with outside companies to secure trucking
- Collaborate with Sales when arranging shipment
- Provide up to date information to customer or end user as to delivery dates and times
- Perform system functions related to shipping
- Manage BOL and quality photos of each shipment
3. Continuous Improvement
- Develop a process improvement plan for documenting outbound shipments
- Participate on the team developing and implementing bar coding in the warehouse
- Improve training process for Material Handlers
- Suggest improvements for warehousing inbound material shipments from vendors
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 2 Years in Logistics, Material Handling or Inventory Controls
- High School diploma
- Basic level Excel, Word
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and improve processes
- TMS Enterprise Shipping System Web based App.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of warehouse management
- Proven ability to lead a team
- Knowledge of SAP
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules or demands
- Ability to become a certified forklift operator
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred

- Onsite
- Manufacturing working environment and may be exposed to bad weather, excessive heath and/or noise
