As part of HVAC Heating, Patterson Kelley is a leading manufacturer of commercial boilers and direct and indirect water heaters.  With an over 140 year history, we provide reliable, innovative comfort solutions for hospitals, schools, military bases, and stadiums.

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Sustaining Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the continued performance, reliability, and safety of our products throughout their lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support, to identify and resolve technical issues, implement design improvements, and support product enhancements.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:          

  1. Technical Support and Development:
  • Conduct technical analysis and troubleshooting of products to identify and resolve issues related to performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Monitor and analyze field data and customer feedback to identify product performance trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and execute testing and validation plans to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and customer requirements.

 

  1. Teamwork & Collaboration: 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support, to drive product improvements and implement design changes
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain/Purchasing to evaluate and select components, materials, and technologies to meet product requirements and improve product performance.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, sales teams, and service technicians, by addressing inquiries, resolving technical issues, and providing product documentation and training.

 

      3.  Analysis and Documentation: 

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including product specifications, engineering change orders, and reports to ensure accurate and up-to-date product information.
  • Participate in product design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analyses to identify and mitigate potential product issues and improve product performance.

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • Up to 2 years of experience in sustaining engineering or product development.

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in CAD,Solidworks, Creo, and  Windchill.
  • Experience with product testing, validation, and compliance with regulatory standards, such as ASME, CSA, and ANSI
  • Experience with boiler control systems, automation, and Internet of Things (IOT) technologies is a plus.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.               

Travel & Working Environment

  • Work in an office environment, able to use a computer, provide oral and written communication.  
  • Manufacturing Environment frequently requires use of foot and eye protection when in production areas.
