How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the PLM & CAD Systems Administrator at Patterson-Kelley, you’ll support the daily operations of our engineering and product development teams by managing our Windchill PLM system and providing expert support for CAD tools such as Creo and AutoCAD. You will work closely with multiple cross-functional groups to support the quality, safety, and timely delivery of all Patterson-Kelley products. You will be responsible for ensuring that our design and drafting teams produce high-quality, innovative, and efficient designs, and that our PLM system is optimized for seamless product development and lifecycle management.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- PLM & CAD Support
- Review and manage 2D draft production prints of conceptual/prototype 3D models from engineering group from initial prototype release through to production release
- Manage technical documentation in PLM system
- Support engineers with model/drawing issues, file regeneration problems, title block fixes, etc.
- Facilitate and manage the ECR/ECN process
- Coordinate release of new parts and manage prototype states
- Maintain product structure/bill of materials (BOM) in PLM and ERP systems
- Manage PLM and CAD licensing structure and users
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues that arise in the PLM system
- Coordinate PLM updates, patches, and testing with IT group
2. Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Create new and improve existing standard work procedures.
- Be an enthusiastic change agent for implementing new policies, procedures, and technologies
- Provide periodic status updates on projects to the Engineering Manager
- Offer innovative solutions to technically complex problems
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 3+ years 3D CAD modeling experience and 2D CAD drafting experience
- 3+ years experience using a PLM and ERP system
- 3+ years experience creating and maintaining bill of materials
- 2+ years managing bills of materials, change processes, and document control
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field. Years of direct experience and education may be considered in combination.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrate strong computer skills: Creo, Solidworks, Windchill PLM, JD Edwards, Microsoft Office applications
- Work collaboratively within, and external to, the Engineering Department and several different departments daily.
- Commitment to full product lifecycle management.
- Skilled in compiling and maintaining comprehensive product definitions that include vendor documentation, technical specifications, 2D drawings, and 3D models.
- Highly motivated to provide project deliverables on time and be able to establish priorities when multiple deliverables coincide.
- Ability to communicate project status updates in a team environment.
- Interest and ability to contribute to evolving work processes.
- Understanding of the process of engineering revisions, engineering change notices, engineering deviations and the corresponding impact on manufacturing
- Understanding of inventory control concepts, bills of materials accuracy, and material flow
- Exhibit a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required
Travel & Working Environment
- The ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
- Manufacturing environment frequently requires use of foot and eye protection when in production areas
