How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Under the direction of the Product Supervisor, Utility (Forklift Driver) is generally responsible for moving material using equipment such as a forklift and may assist in routine production activities. This role is expected to maintain quality and safety standards in accordance with SPX policies.

                                                                                                                                               

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Technical Operations:
  • Moves materials, parts, sub-assemblies, and finished products from one department to another.
  • Safely load or unload materials.
  • Utilize material handling equipment such as forklift, overhead crane, electric carts, pallet trucks to deliver materials, parts and tools incidental to the production requirements.
  • May be assigned minor, unskilled cutting, finishing, clean up, chipping, grinding, using portable, manual or powered equipment.
  • May perform routine production work in assisting other production employees in setup and operation of machines or production activities.
  • May plow snow and operate additionally assigned equipment related to role.

 

  1. Quality Assurance and Safety:
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes as trained.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Inventories materials on work floor and designated areas.
  • Responsible for daily inspection of equipment and performs simple maintenance on equipment, fills fuel tank and replaces gas tank
  • Read work orders and material withdrawals in order to review and expedite on a daily basis the required parts, materials and tools necessary for production.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Forklift certification and/or ability to pass required forklift examination.
  • The ability to predictably and regularly attend work and to be punctual.
  • Make sound decisions, exercise independent judgment and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with minimum supervision.

 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, talk or hear; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Education & Certifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

 

Working Environment, Schedule and Travel

  • Workplace is onsite in manufacturing environment.
  • Normal work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • Must be flexible to work occasional overtime as required.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (eyewear and footwear)
