This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">®  branded products. Weil-McLain<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">® is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881. 

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Sr Engineer-PLC Programmer and Integrator, you will be responsible for program development, implementation, startup, debugging, daily support and continuous improvement of PLC based control systems used in production.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

Continuous Improvement:

 

  1. Support plant objectives and goals in terms of safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost reduction through continuous improvement of the plant manufacturing processes.
  2. Support and expand Lean culture and implementation throughout the plant.
  3. Identify and implement safety improvements.

 

Operational Support and Analysis:

 

  1. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and IT to support daily activities and to achieve process optimization.
  2. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment & workspace for efficiency.
  3. Develop and track key metrics for manufacturing engineering.

 

New Product Development/Capital Investments:

 

  1. Support the NPI program with regards ensuring manufacturing process to manufacturing new products to required specs and required efficiencies.
  2. Work closely with Plant Supervision and Management at all levels to determine feasibility of proposed projects and provide data or information for accurate decisions.
  3. Includes the successful crafting of a capital appropriation request (E201) with supporting EVA calculations as well as project management leadership. Processes engineering change requests (ECR’s)
  4. Determine equipment/process specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 5 years of current experience in related manufacturing.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes including assembly, fabrication, powder coat paint, and electrical testing.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have or be proficient at the following:

  • Allen-Bradley PLC Programming (ControlLogix, RSLogix 500 / 5000) experience: 5 years (Required).
  • Computer / Control Systems networking and troubleshooting experience: 3 years.
  • Vision Systems and Barcode Scanners experience (Cognex, Keyence, Motorola etc.).
  • Process Instrumentation experience.
  • Visual Basic or VBScripts experience.
  • Modbus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Fieldbus, Ethernet IP.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Strong Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles.
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problems solving and data analysis skills (8D, 5Y, statistics, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills (comparative analysis via spreadsheet)
  • Strong Quality Systems knowledge including:

o PPAP, APQP, PFMEA and control plant

o Error-proofing (Poka-yoke)

o ISO or TS 16949 depth of understanding

  • Strong engineering and process conformance knowledge and experience including SWI (standard work), Testing and audit processes, and Engineering change management and support.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges and test rigs.
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of auditing processes.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time required.

 

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial preferred) or equivalent experience.

Travel & Working Environment

  • 10% or less travel requirement.
  • Onsite
