How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for taking ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, accruals, managing account reconciliations, accounts receivable activities, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, sales and use tax, analyzing financial data, accrued liabilities, assisting with auditing and Sox testing, and improving accounting processes and controls. The ideal candidate is inquisitive, self-motivated, strong analytical & Excel skills, detail-oriented, organized, and can work both independently and as part of a team. Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Utilizing hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, the senior accountant will perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities, your core responsibilities will be:
- Prepare revenue schedules in compliance with ASC 606 and GAAP, and report and reconcile bookings and backlog to ensure accurate revenue recognition and contract tracking.
- Maintain a strong understanding of cost accounting principles to support accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare month-end close journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial analyses across functional areas, including cash, prepaid expenses, sales and use tax, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities. Ensure all entries are accurate, properly classified, and discrepancies are researched and resolved promptly.
- Process cash receipts and oversee accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and forecasts; perform variance analyses to identify and explain performance deviations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and providing timely.
- Prepare various tax schedules and returns, including income tax and sales tax.
- Manage fixed assets, ensuring accurate tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and reporting.
- Special Projects: participate in ad-hoc projects, process improvements initiatives, and system enhancements to streamline accounting operations and ensure data accuracy.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience
- +5 years’ experience in ASC 606 revenue recognition and general accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Oracle) and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
- Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide insights for decision-making.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work extended hours
- Self-motivated, deadline-oriented, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in system implementations, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration to support strategic initiatives.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Hands-on, proactive, and inquisitive.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
- Thrives in a small team environment with moderate-to-low supervision; high regard for confidentiality; strong analytical skills; positive attitude.
- Experience in driving change, improving processes and business process re-engineering.
Education & Certifications
- BA/BS in Finance/Accounting degree or equivalent discipline

- Work is performed primarily in an office or open-air cubicle environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, lift, twist, bend, walk, operate a computer keyboard, telephone and other office equipment for extended periods of time.
The compensation information that follows is a reasonable estimate for the position and is provided pursuant to legal requirements in this state. The salary estimate provided represents the typical salary range for the position, and other factors may be used to determine the successful candidate’s actual salary, including: skill set, experience, training, education, organizational needs, internal equity, market data, and geographic zone. The estimated salary range for this position is: $125,000 - $135,000. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan.
