How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Senior Engineering Technician you will work as a member of the final test and system configuration team. This individual will also provide technical support to engineers and manufacturing operation personnel on a variety of technical tasks ensuring that tasks scheduled for the day are completed and that difficulties are dealt with in a timely manner.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- The development and implementation of test methods and procedures for computer-controlled radio receiving and signal analysis system hardware (digital and RF analog) and associated computer equipment, including test software. Recommend as necessary changes to maintain and advance testing capability and to determine root cause and corrective action for both standard production and new products.
- Perform configuration and system level functional tests on various standard production level computer products
- Perfrom RF system configuration and functional testing to customer specifcations
- Troubleshoot and repair RF systems to subsystem levels
- Maintain troubleshooting documentation in appropriate process / product documents.
- Identify ways to improve current production, configuration and functional test processes and communicate ideas with appropriate personnel.
- Basic assembly skills
- Able to work occasional overtime
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- AA degree or equivalent experience required.
- 5 years’ functional experience is required.
- Must have good writing skills to conceive and write test procedures and work instructions.
- Must possess the necessary knowledge, versatility, practicality and hands-on experience to successfully implement new test procedures.
- Previous experience working with teams to solve technical problems
- Strong working knowledge of Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Sources, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Power and Frequency measuring devices.
- Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot failures down to the module level
- Comfortable dealing with mechanical assembly
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong experience in navigating Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 10/11
- Strong experience in Networking fundamentals
- Experience with DOS, Linux
- Knowledge of Oracle ERP and Agile Product Life Management applications a plus
- Knowledge of LabVIEW a plus
Education & Certifications
- AA degree or equivalent experience required.

Salary Range

As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this position is $90,000- $100,000 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan.
