How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. In this role, you will support the daily operations of our Aftermarket Parts & Service department. This includes material handling, shipping & logistics, problem solving, data entry, et al.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, depending on the incumbent is performing, you may be required to:
- Read and understand documentation related to the picking, packing, and shipping of outgoing orders and the unpacking and stocking of inbound materials.
- Inbound and outbound material handling (shipping/receiving), using tools and equipment such as impact guns, utility knife, tape gun, staple gun, nail gun, and any other required tools/equipment safely and effectively.
- Understanding requirements for all shipment types to meet guidelines for safety, importing/exporting requirements, and fulfillment accuracy.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles such as flatbed trucks, pickup trucks, and dry vans safely using equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and any other required tools/equipment to ensure safety, efficiency and accuracy.
- Following standard operating procedures related to material defects/claims to confirm all stocked items are delivered to specification and quality standards.
- Use computer-based applications such as SAP, Microsoft Office, FedEx Ship Manager and UPS Worldship.
- Complete tasks to support on-time shipments and other logistical needs, including physical inventory counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Collaborate with other business units to facilitate order fulfillment by communicating via phone, email, and messaging services.
- Other tasks as assigned.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 1+ years’ experience in a warehousing environment or in shipping & receiving functions.
- 1+ years’ experience in data entry, including Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Ability to identify correct materials and use references if necessary to ensure accuracy.
- Ability to use precision hand tools.
- Ability to keep a clean and safe work area.
- Ability to work extended shifts and overtime.
- Forklift operation experience/certification preferred.
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or GED
Travel & Working Environment
- Onsite – Local travel may be necessary.
- The employee will be required to stand and walk for at least 8 hours.
- Regularly be required to push/pull material with the assistance of heavy equipment.
- Climb stairs, reach and bend regularly.
- Occasionally sit, grasp, climb, crawl, twist, and work at heights.
- Occasionally lift, hold and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Perform repetitive motions.
- Requires use of Personal Protective Equipment, such as foot, eye, and ear protection when in production locations.
- Potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noise
