SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at SPX's very first campus.
As the Assembly Manager, you will play a crucial role in scheduling, supervising staff, optimizing processes (using Lean principles), and managing resources efficiently to deliver finished goods. You will be involved and making sure you bridge the gap between production staff and management. Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Production Management: Planning, scheduling, and executing daily assembly operations to meet customer demand, ensuring on-time completion.
- Quality & Compliance: Monitoring production to ensure products meet quality specifications, investigating root causes of defects, and enforcing safety regulations.
- Leadership: Training, mentoring, supervising, and motivating assembly workers.
- Process Improvement: Implementing Lean principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and reducing waste to increase productivity and reduce costs.
- Resource Coordination: Managing materials, inventory, and equipment maintenance to prevent downtime.
- Reporting: Preparing production reports, tracking KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and reporting to senior management.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- Experience 5-10 years in a lean manufacturing environment
- Experience in a leadership/ supervisory role
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in interpreting technical blueprints, schematics, and operating machinery.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Problem solving abilities.
- Experience with new facility start-up and management of change implementation.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and associated safety hazards especially associated with assembly or large products and use of overhead cranes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex safety concepts to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and coach stakeholders at varying levels of the organization
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple project simultaneously
- Proficiency in using software applications and tools for safety reporting, data analysis, and documentation
- Strong PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
- Certified Safety professional preferred
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred
