How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) 

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at one site. As the Senior Manager for manufacturing services on this campus, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a production process, ensuring that products are created safely, efficiently and with the highest quality. Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment. 

  

Reporting into both Plant managers, this position will be crucial for the success of our operations. This role plays a pivotable role in planning, coordinating, and directing activities that have direct bearing on the manufacturing of products. The Senior manager's responsibilities include developing efficient processes, asset procurement, managing quality and CI teams, and leading facilities and EHS professions, ensuring that safety regulations are adhered to, and that production schedules are met. Ultimately, the role of the manufacturing manager is to ensure that our manufacturing processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner. 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) 

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: 

  1. Oversee and manage the entire manufacturing process: 

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity and efficiency 

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment 

  • Monitor the production schedule and ensure deadlines are met 

  • Manage budgets and costs associated with manufacturing processes 

 

  1. Develop efficient processes : 

  • Implement improvements to manufacturing processes and procedures 

  • Prepare and present reports on manufacturing operations and progress to senior management 

  • Ensure quality standards are always met 

 

  1. Manage teams : 

  • Hire, train, and supervise manufacturing team members 

  • Resolve issues and disputes among manufacturing team members 

 

What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education) 

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: 

 

Required Experience & Skills 

  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role 

  • Proven experience designing and implementing machine/assembly cells and factory layouts 

  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, material transactions/movement within plant 

  • Understanding of the process of engineering revisions, change notices, deviations, and impact on manufacturing 

  • Proven knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma 

  • Strong mathematical ability to explain statistical analysis in simplified, business terms 

  • Proficiency conducting time studies, data analysis, and cost estimation 

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and effectively implement changes 

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-function teams at all levels (production to management) and present data and recommendations verbally and in written form to management 

  • Proven experience with one piece flow (balancing, pacing, improved through-put) and visual factory (KPIs, pacing boards, EI) 

  • Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously  

  • Proficiency in software tools such as CAD and statistical analyses software 

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports 

 

Ideal Experience & Skills 

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role 

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes related to HVAC and heating systems 

  • Experience with design for manufacturing methods 

  • Familiarity with supply chain  

  • Familiarity with MRP planning and production scheduling techniques 

  • Experience with JD Edwards 

 

Education & Certifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred 

 

Travel & Working Environment 

  • Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located, QC Canada 

  • Manufacturing plant environment
