How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Laser operator, you will collaborate with a team to meet on time delivery and exceed our customers satisfaction. You will set up and operate a CNC laser machine to fabricate components from sheet metal or metal plates. This is a cross functional role that may operate fabricating machines, such as cutoff saws, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and punch machines, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheet, tubes, and structures.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Safety
- Follow all safety rules and adhere to core value of business
- Maintain general work areas and/or equipment used in a clean and orderly condition
- Ensure proper and effective operation of machine and tools throughout entire process. Report repairs and/or issues to team lead or supervisor
Delivery
- Prepare, set-up, and operate CNC production related laser machines to create/fabricate materials, parts, and items used in the production of finished work
- Ensure sufficient raw materials are in inventory to complete work orders
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings with product knowledge for successful completion of intended parts
- Advance completed component(s) to the appropriate staging area for next steps in the manufacturing process to ensure customer on time delivery
- Troubleshoot issues in laser operation and CNC machinery
- Perform light maintenance on equipment, machines, and other devices used in the normal course of work performed
- Complete tasks as directed with minimum supervision
Quality
- Confirm material, sizes, and parts match job tickets
- Ensure all parts and surfaces are free from defects
- Accurately document work performed per defined procedure
- Self-monitor quality of own work, and report to lead or supervisor unusual, defective, or operating difficulties
- Complete all tasks and work within designed quality guidelines
Culture
- Desire to do the right thing
- Team player, assisting other team members and departments as needed with other duties not routine to position
- Punctual, on time, ready to work designated shift, every day
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 1 year CNC operation
- 1 year manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent attendance
- Knowledge of various tooling
- Mechanical aptitude
- Self-driven, able to work independently, and as a team
- Able to read/interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and quality, working within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
