SPX Sigma Heating and Cooling Corp specializes in production of wide range of heating/cooling products. Our long history in custom sheet metal design, and various HVAC products such as hydronic heating, fan coil, water source heat pumps, as well as commercial air conditioning, has led us to become experts in HVAC manufacturing.

The Electrical Technician HVAC will be part of our engineering team, responsible for designing electrical side of various HVAC products. This is a fulltime position. EXPERIENCE:

  • One to three years’ experience in HVAC controls, electrical wiring (high/low voltage side) design or a related product design field of similar complexity, primarily related to design for manufacturing of those products
  • Design, selection and integration of complex HVAC electro-mechanical components and systems including microprocessors, PLC controllers and various high and low voltage electric circuit components.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing will be considered as an asset.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, wiring schematics/harnesses design and preferably SOLIDWORKS, specifically in sheet metal design. Knowledge of other parametric modeling software will be considered as equivalent.
  • Understanding of fundamental business practices related to manufacturing operations (BOMs and MRP).
  • Microsoft Office

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs, analyzes existing designs, modifies, and troubleshoots HVAC units, electro-mechanical components and subsystems related to various types of HVAC equipment controls.
  • Creates appropriate drawings and instructions for wiring and testing of HVAC units
  • Maintains end of line production testing systems. Designs and implements new end of line testing devices.
  • Creating and maintaining production BOMs related to electro-mechanical systems
  • Designs sheet metal electrical box enclosures and creates fabrication drawings
  • Generates technical documentation for use within the company and/or with vendors
  • Attention to detail in fast-paced environment
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety rules and quality standards

  • Hands-on engineer who likes to be involved from start to finish – from concept to R&D to production
  • Commitment to continuous learning and ability to acquire new skills at accelerated pace
  • Good communication skills and team-player attitude, interacting and supporting production team on daily basis
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Familiar with imperial and metric system
  • English reading, writing, communication and math skills

EDUCATION

  • BS in Engineering with Electrical or Mechanical Major or related science. Three-year community college will be considered depending on actual experience and skill level

Compensation Disclosure

  • For use by Ontario employers with 25 or more employees, for positions with expected compensation of $200,000 CAD /year or less.

The expected compensation for this position is between $54,100 and $81,000 per year. This range reflects the anticipated compensation for the role, based on factors such as qualifications, experience and market conditions.
