This is an HR Generalist - Maternity Leave Contract 12-18 month assignment
How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
Sigma Omega Mississauga is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the HR Generalist is responsible for partnering with leadership team to drive implementation of HR processes and initiatives to meet objectives of the business and develop an efficient, engaged, and inclusive workforce. This is a hands-on position that supports the manufacturing plant and leadership with a focus on recruiting, employee engagement, employee relations, performance management, and continuous improvement.

KEY Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist in talent acquisition and full cycle of recruitment process from recruitment plans to new hire orientation.

Benefits, Payroll and Compensation: Administer employee benefits programs, process payroll for hourly and salaried employees (bi-weekly), manage payroll inquiries, and assist with performance appraisals.

Employee Relations: Assist in addressing employee grievances, resolve conflicts, and facilitate disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies and labor laws.

Policy Development & Compliance: Assist in creating, updating, and implementing Job Descriptions, HR policies and procedures, ensuring they comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Training & Development: Assist in developing and coordinating training programs and support employee career development.

Employee Engagement: Assist in designing and implementing initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and engagement within the organization.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized physical and digital employee files, including attendance, benefits, vacation, and performance data.

Relationship Building: Building and maintaining relationships with Operations and third party recruitment agencies.

Employee Relations
Serve as the key employee relations contact to respond and follow up to day-to-day HR related issues such as performance management, benefits questions, attendance, payroll, and other workplace concerns.

Required Experience

Prior HR experience in Manufacturing Operations
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
OTHER Responsibilities

Support with HR-related matters: Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leave of absences, compensation and resolve any issues that may arise.

HR Metrics: Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates

Exit interviews and Offboarding: Conduct employee Exit interview and offboarding process (checklist and close out items)

Government grants: Apply for HR grants with Ministry of Labour and other sources

Respond to inquiries: Service Canada inquiries, Employee Reference checks etc.

Record of Employment: Process Record of Employment for employees who are on leave of absence.

Report Injuries: Coordinate with JHSC committee members and report injuries to WSIB.

Corporate events, lunch-ins and Job fairs: Assist planning corporate events, lunch ins and participate in job fairs.

Other duties: other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or two years+ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CHRP
-
Certification preferred or working towards HR designation
Travel & Working Environment
-
Office environment with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment

Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.

Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas.
