This opportunity is for our Electric Heat business. Electric Heat is a trusted leader in electric heating and ventilation solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Industrial Brazer, you will support production of specialty heating equipment at the Monroe City facility through industrial brazing operations, including hermetic seal brazing and pre-burn brazing. You will perform precise, detail-oriented work in a high-heat manufacturing environment while helping ensure proper solder flow, braze penetration, and seal quality.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

Pre-Burn Brazing Operations
• Prepare materials and components for brazing
• Sandblast flanges and heating elements
• Assemble heater components
• Operate gas burner systems and heat assemblies to approximately 1200°F
• Apply brazing rod and flux during the heating process -
Post-Braze Production Support
• Perform post-braze sandblasting and cleanup
• Support hydro testing processes
• Support oven bake-out preparation and processing
• Follow work instructions and process documentation
• Work independently after training -
Hermetic Seal Brazing
• Install ceramic components
• Place hermetic seals
• Perform precision brazing of seals
• Support electrical testing and high-pot testing
• Visually inspect solder flow and seal integrity -
Quality, Safety, and Work Practices
• Maintain patience, precision, and attention to detail during repetitive work
• Identify proper braze penetration and seal quality
• Work in tight spaces and awkward body positions as needed
• Wear required PPE in high-heat industrial environments
• Follow safety requirements while working near open heat sources and blasting operations
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
• Prior industrial brazing experience
• Experience working with torches and high-heat applications
• Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
• Ability to read and understand work instructions and process documentation
• Ability to work independently after training
• Strong manual dexterity and hand control
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• ASME brazing background or exposure
• Experience with hermetic seals or precision brazing applications
• Experience in welding, industrial fabrication, or heat-intensive manufacturing environments
• Strong attention to detail, patience, and precision hand control
• Ability to visually identify proper solder flow, braze penetration, and seal quality
Education & Certifications
• ASME brazing background or exposure preferred
Travel & Working Environment
• Must be comfortable working near sustained high-heat sources approaching 1200°F
• Frequent standing for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, with crane assist available for heavier items
• Steel-toe boots and leather work gear appropriate for high-heat industrial work required
• Heat-resistant PPE, gloves, face shields, safety shields, and related protective equipment provided by the plant
